1.1 This fire-test-response standard outlines a method for determining the minimum concentration of oxygen, expressed as a percentage volume, that is required to support flaming combustion in a flowing mixture of oxygen and nitrogen.

1.3 The specimens used in this test method are categorized into one of six types (see Table 1).

1.4 This test method is designed to evaluate materials that can be structurally self-supporting, specifically vertical bars or sheets measuring up to 10.5 mm thick. These materials are characterized by an apparent density exceeding 15 kg/m³.

1.5 Additionally, this test method is capable of assessing flexible sheet or film materials while being supported vertically.
